Acts 4:1-31

Introduction – It’s exciting to read in the book of Acts of the enthusiasm, the power, the moving of God in the early church. They didn’t have buildings, programs, budgets, or paid staff, but they had power few of us have seen. God has given us a work to do and we need to be empowered by God as the early church was—empowerment that is released by faith as it is expressed in prayer.

The early church faced great opposition (v. 1-23)

The early church reacted by praying (v. 24-30)

They recognized God’s sovereignty (v. 24)

They relied on scripture (v. 25-28)

They requested God’s intervention (v. 29-30)

The early church received power (v. 31)

Conclusion - “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
